The 9th Annual Portland Urban Iditarod will be run Saturday, March 13th, 2010.

In the Alaskan Iditarod, more than sixty dog sled teams race across the frozen tundra from Anchorage to Nome. In our urban version, teams of ‘dogs’ lead by a musher will pull their sleds (shopping carts) through some of Portland’s most scenic areas. These teams of barking humans must negotiate through the unrelenting and unforgiving dangers of Portland’s urban frontier.

As an incentive to run, dogs and mushers alike will have several ‘check points’ to replenish lost fluids and discuss tales of mayhem. The course is over four miles, so dogs and mushers alike need to be ready and able to run their tails off.

The 2010 Urban Iditarod boasts a new course with new checkpoint! The event cost is $50 per five person team. A mandatory team leader meeting will be held on Friday, March 12. Times and locations will be sent to the team leader after the team is registered. The start time, course map and event details will be given out at the team meeting.

Après Ski Party
Immediately following the event the Grand Café will be hosting an Après Ski party with, karaoke, DJ, dancing and fun.
